What is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)?

CBT is a common form of psychotherapy, or talk therapy, that helps you overcome common mental health challenges. During CBT with the Silver Liningz Counseling team, you meet with a licensed mental health counselor who assists you in making positive lifestyle changes by altering negative thoughts and behaviors.

At the first sign of ongoing fear, worry, depression, or anxiety, see your mental health specialist for an evaluation. They can personalize a virtual therapy session that’s perfect for your situation.

What happens during CBT sessions?

During the first psychotherapy session, your therapist gets to know you one-on-one or in a group setting with your partner or family. Silver Liningz Counseling also offers larger group CBT therapy sessions if you’re a candidate for them.

Your therapist asks questions about your lifestyle habits, mood, thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and medical history during a psychiatric evaluation before tailoring CBT treatment sessions.

During counseling appointments, your specialist calls to chat with you virtually. They teach you strategies that make altering problematic thoughts and behaviors easier. You learn ways to identify and fix problems, control anger, reduce stress, and communicate better with family and friends.

You will typically speak with your counselor weekly via telehealth visits, but don’t hesitate to call the Silver Liningz Counseling office with concerns or questions between treatment sessions. Your provider may suggest medications or lifestyle changes in addition to counseling. They follow up with you as often as needed to ensure long-lasting happiness.
